He was born in Berlin, Conn. 8-18-36 and died in Cheshire, Connecticut 2-14-21 at age 86.

He married Fanny I. Smith on 8-30-62 in Southington, Connecticut and after she died shortly after childbirth, he married a second time to Ellen Smith Munson (her sister) in Plantsville, Connecticut on 8-13-74. He had seven children between the two wives. If you need their names, I'll be glad to furnish them.

The kepi he is holding has the infantry bugle on it with tassels. It is not known why he would have that hat badge since his records indicate he was always a Private.

He was also an orderly and later the regimental postmaster. Did the soldiers with these appointments also fight? If you know, I'd also appreciate knowing that too.

His 98 year old niece living in Meriden, Connecticut who remembers him as a child on his farm in Cheshire. Not too long ago she told me he was a really kind man with wonderful sense of humor. However, he would never talk about the war.
