Dear Wife
I received your letter yesterday afternoon was glad to hear from you that you and the children ware all well it found me enjoying the same great blessing which still remaines with me for I feel as well now as I have any time since I left home and rather better. it is now evening I have been very buisy to day our time is prety much taken up now through the day time we have to turn out as soon as we can see in the morning and fall into line for role call from six till seven is squad drill brakefast at seven after which every man haves to sweap the wedth of the streat in front of his own tent and put things to rights in sid of the tent redy for camp inspection at eight O clock then from half past nine till half past ten squad drill and from half past ten to half past eleven company drill role call and dinner at twelve the next comes battallion drill from half past three till half past four dress parade at five supper at six tattoo beat and role call at half past eight taps at nine for every light in camp to be put out except the cooks and all noise to ceas so you will preceive that the time is pretty well taken up and what writing I do have to be don at peace meals just as I can catch it. the last letter I wrote I told you that I was going off on provost guard duty we went and had a first rate time did not get back till the next night about half past eight we had rain to march home in we have had a day or two dull rainy weather and rather cold sunday night was very cold and disagreable I lay a little cool we lay on the ground with one thickness of blanket under us and one and our over coat over us. last sunday morning we was ordered to put on our equipments and stay in our company streets all day redy to march at a moments notice but we made no move and still remain here now Wednesday morning but how long we shall stay here I nor any one else can tell. I wrote Mother Brainard a letter last Monday have not received a letter from any one but you since I have been out here have looked for one from your folks or Davis but have not seen it yet, hope the next you write you will be carful and blot it all over so I can read it with out much trouble but I will not find fault for fear you will not write at all I told you when I come away from home I thought I should not write every week but find it quite a privaledg to do so whilst I am whare I can I look for an answer from you as often so be shure and answer every letter you receive from me I guess this will answer for this time so good day Lucinda
