Dear Wife

I received your letter last monday night was glad to hear from you that you ware all well although Georgiana wrote that you had got a pain in your side I am very sory for that hope when I receive an answer to this shall hear that your side is all right but if you are not well say so and if you are say the same  I am well as useual stand it very well should like it rather better if I could dine at my own table or have the same kind of fare that I get at it have not had any potatoes but once since I left New Haven nor any kind of vegitables there is quite a good many sick now in this regiment I think it is more owing to the living than anything els that causes the sickness Georgia wanted to know whether I carred the flag or not I do not neither is our company the collor company we are the second company from the collors. the 16 CV are in camp but about two miles from our camp the boys go back and forth from one camp to the other when they can get passes to do so. General Burnside and his army some say eighty thousand and some say one hundred and ten thousand men are but two or three miles from us. he rode past here yesterday  I think I saw him but did not know him and there was not many that did. he was dressed so Shaby some of his men was in our camp when he passed and they told is us it was him  our company is going out this afternoon as provost guard we start at half past three to be gone twenty four hours I suppose. to pick up straglers and deserters from other regiments and we have got to go some six or eight miles up north through the mountains. it is very dry and dusty here now the road is half over shoe with dust as lite as ashes so you can judge whether the dust flies any or not come to march a regiment through it. I presume Lucinda that you are as prudent as you can bee you of cours will have to exersise your own judgment in regard to what you wanr and need if you have not got the boys any shoes yet you must do the best you can in getting them about the cow yard  you may do as you are a mind to you may have the maneur go out and have it spread this fall be carful not have the cow spoil those young apple trees. have the peaches got ripe yet if they have ware the good if they was eat a few for me just think how they would relish out here whare you can get nothing of the kind  I should like to get hold of some of those big greenings also. Well Georgiana I received your letter with your mothers was glad to hear from you that you are well and that your fingar has got well  you must still continue to be a good girl and help your mother all  you can so that I shall hear a good report from her when she writes to me again than I shall feel as though I had got a butiful girl at home whilst I am out here in defence of the stars and stripes the pride of our nation. Edgar I heard a very good report  from home in regard to your conduct and I hope that I shall hear the same good news evry time that I hear from home  I suppose you are to worke at Mr Fullers if you are you must be a good boy to work so he will like you  if you are a good boy evry body will love you and you can get work any time.Well Frank they told me in one letter that you had just come home from Tarsha. I suppose you had a good time mother said in her last letter that you had been helping her pick tomatoes so of course you are a good boy and you must always be one so evry body will like you  I shall think a great deal better of you if you are a good boy than I should if you are not.Well Fredy I received your kind letter last monday afternoon  was very glad to hear from you that you was such a good boy you must write to me often give me all the news  I wrote a letter to Turkey Hill a week ago last sunday have not received an answer yet so good day from your Father & Husband
