Camp Chase Sept 28th/62

 

Dear Wife

 

Your letter come to hand in good time yesterday Saturday afternon found me well and in good spirits and remain the same to day have been out this morning on a regimental inspection of arms also attended divine service after which I though would answer your letter first will say it is pretty warm weather here through the day rather cool nights we have been kept pretty straight drilling the past week what will come this week I cannot tell the war news the past week that we have received has been nothing very great, I think they will send Jedadiah Gardner home soon as he has been sick all of the time since we got out here he is grunting and groaning now I  hear him from the next tent, whether he is rearly sick or playing it I do not know I think a little home sick I suppose you have had some cool weather in moodus by this time will have to pick the apples soon after the first of October You must have Garrison draw you that wood soon enough so as not to get out say next month all at once then get someone to cut it so as to  have it season as there seams to be some trouble about the money that was sent home to Moodus from the boys by Mr Haskall I want you should write me in your next letter whether you received ninty five or not if you did it is all right Levi Purple sent home eighty dollars so he says. E Purple Warren Culver Jo Kidder all say their money fell short ten dollars apiece if that is as Haskall made a pretty good speck which may caus  him some trouble you need not send me any more envelopes or stamps until I send for them as I have a plenty at presant should like to take supper with you this afternoon as I think should get somthing that would suit my appetite as well as what I get here we have anough generly such as it is but it is not quite like home fare, well Ella G I have concluded to keep you company by not eating any butter for the presant for the very reason that I cant get it  I was sorry to hear that you had hurt your finger  you must write to your father when you get this  tell Edgar I am glad to hear that he is a good boy  I supose Frank & Fredy are good boys also  a kiss for you all with my love to you all from Your Husband & father
