Washington Sept 14/62

Dear Wife

I take my pencil in hand to write you a few lines to let you know how and whare I am this Sunday morning finds me in washington on Capital hill I am well first rate I slept last night out in the open field with a blanket under me and one over me got up this morning between four and five Oclok my head wet with dew washed this morning in a mud puddle am now in a hot sun writing but the boy make such a noise I cant think of any thing I want to write we left new Haven on Thursday at half past eleven AM arived at New York about five P M went on board a steam boat and went to Port Montmouth New Jersy arived there about nine in the evening went on board the cars then for Philadelphia arived there at day light in the morning in a very heavy rain got wet through never eat any thing from the time I left New Haven till I got to Philadelphia left Philadelphia about 1 Oclok P M arived in Baltimore at 12 Oclok at night stayed there until the next morning Saturday about 9 A M left then for Washington arived there about four in the afternoon how long we shall stay here I can not tell probibly not very long some of them say they heard we was going to leave here to day if we do can not tell you whare we shall go Good morning Georgia Edgar Frank & Fredy all hand of you how do you all do this morning I hope you are all well I am myself you must all be good children so when your mother writes to me she can say that you are all very good. Edgar you must remember that wood pile and keep the old woman in oven wood. Lucinda I sent you home ninty five dollars by Mr Haskell I suppose likely you have received it if you have you will know what to do with it pleas wite as soon as you received this and let me know about it and how you all get along Georgia must write also give me the news I dont now as I have anything more to write so Good by my love to all of you & respects to all enqureing friends from your Husband and father
