Dear Wife

 

It is with pleasure that I take my pen in hand to answer your letter which I have just received this morning of the 13th of March it found me well and I hope these few lines will find you all the same.  I have  not much news to write as I know of.  It is a cold disagreable  morning a regular old Marcher the wind cuts right through a fellow, Joel Smith is dead he died in Louisville Ky on the 8th of March he was on his way home on a furlough he had been sick ever since the Reg,t come down into this part of the country, It didnt seam to agree with him down here.  I suppose you will know who I mean it is Jo Smith that used to peddle meat and fish in Moodus Bill Binghams Wifes brother, I received your letter that was dated the 6th of March day before yesterday morning two
