And see if I cant get them a little quicker than I have been in the habit of doing lately, Your letters found me well and setting before a good fire as you wished they might but my spirits ran rather low for the very reason that I did not get any letter from you for so long a time, But I am all right now and hope when this reaches you it will find you all the same, It is pleasant here to day we have had very fine weather here for the last two weeks, I am very well suited with this place the duty is not overly above hard and I have got very comfortable quaters but cant say how long we shall stay here may stay two months and may not stay a week it is uncertain about such matters in times of war, You thought that your Father made you quite a presant I think so to I think he done a very good thing by you,  You said your folks had not had but one letter from me since I have been in the Army  I have wrote them three I wrote one and received an answer to it  I then answered that but never got any in return, then after I received your letter that you wrote when you was over there and requested me to write to your folks I wrote the third and never got any answer so I concluded that would do until I received one from them  I wrote in their last for Davis to write to me but have seen any thing that looked like a letter yet from him, I have had three from Delos and one paper and have answered them all so you see that no one writes to me without getting an answer, if it isnt quite so stylish it makes no dif,  You want to know what I think about the war, Wal I will tell you a little of what I think that is from what I have seen since I have been down here and what I hear from other scources and what I read in the papers that the war has pretty well played out, I hope so at any rate  There is no mistake but what you hear about suffering and destitution of the poor at the South is true, I have seen enough to convince me of that  I have seen children all the way from one to
