Dear Wife & Daughter

 

I will take this opportunity to answer your letter of the 15th of Dec  it came to hand on Friday night the 25th and Christmas at that  I was glad to hear that you ware all well it found me well and still remain the same and I hope this will find you all well when it arives in Moodus, I found some tea in your letter and I have had a few cups of good tea since, It is pleasant here to day we have had quite a stormy time here for a few days past Saturday Sunday and Monday ware very unpleasant. It was awful mudy but the mud is drying up fast now  I am on duty to day am on every other day nine hours out of twenty four two days and the third day six hours out of twenty four, But that is not going to last long for they say that we have got to move again to morrow that is the way when we get a place fixed up so that it is comfortable we must go and leave it they are afraid that a soldier will have to easy a time of it so after we get one place fixed comfortable we must leave for another  they dont seam to be easy unles they get us out doors somewhare to sleep so that we can get a good soaking when it rains they say that we are going back about eighteen miles on the rail road towards Nashville but that remains yet to be seen whare we are going Well Lucind you thought that perhaps I would like to hear a word from my old woman of cours I would two of them oftner than I do to, cobs are not as plenty here as they are in some places but what there is are pretty good size so I guess that we can get along, Wall Ella I was glad to get your lettr and to hear from you but was sorry to hear that your throat was soar and your head dizzy for I was afraid that you might be sick when I received your letter  you must be carful and not get your feet wet for you might take cold and get sick  was glad to hear that you dont like to miss your lessons at school hope you will try to learn all you can and be a good girl, That twenty five cent note was for you did,nt you see your name on it, the other two that I sent before was for Frank and Edgar their names was on each of them  I have sent your mother two checks she ought to get them by to night, I received your pcture and thank you very much for it it looks first rate you must be almost as large as your mother and now I want you should remember what I have already wrote to you in a letter before since I received your preasant keep it in your mind constantly I should like to have ben at home to helpt you taken care of that Turkey of your christmas night but as I was not I hope you enjoyed yourself well with out my company You tell Frank that I am sorry to hear such a report about him  I hope it will be the last of the kind that I shall every have a chance to hear, my love to you all
