Dumfries Va, Sunday Afternoon
June 14th 1863
Dear Wife
I will now write you a few words on this slip of paper and put into a letter that I had wrote before and let you know whare and how I am at this time I am well but my feet are most bludy soar for I have been tramping most of the time since friday morning I told you that I was on picket was not releived saturday morning as we should have been but stayed on till just at night when we was called in and ordered to report to our regiment which had moved early on Saturday morning about 3 miles from Stafford. we got as far as the Court House when we met the whole corps coming back, we fell in with our regiment about sundown saturday night was out all night got to Dumfries this forenoon about ten Oclock we are hear now resting in the hot sun whare we are going I cannot tell you some say that Lees army is across the river and we are on the lookout for him, no more now
