Dear Wife & Daughter

I now seat myself to answer your letfer of the 18th & 19th  it arrived last night was glad to hear that you ware all well also to hear that you received the money all safe that I sent by Mr  Rodman your letter found me well and I am well to day and hope when this reaches you it will find you all the same. we are haveing a good deal of wet weather here now it commenced raining here night before last about bed time rained all that night all day yesterday and last night and is still raining hard to day and does not appear to be any prospects of its clearing off at preasant, you will see by the heading of this letter that we have not  moved away from Stafford yet and I cant tell you when we shall. I have sent you two letters before this since the one that Mr  Rodman brought you one had a ten dollar check and a five dollar bill in it the other was in answer to yours that I received last sunday night, you wrote in one of your letters about the boys and Georgias wanting some shoes and Edgar a hat of course you will have to see to such things and get what is needed if Edgar lives away from home this year I should think that he ought to earn his board and cloaths but I dont know as he does live away you wrote that he was going to live with Frank Brainard but have not wrote whether he has gone there to live or not if he has I think Frank ought to make him pay his way, you wanted to know what I thought about Carrigan you know very well what I think of him you had better say anything about him to have it get out for him to hear of for he might do you an injury seeing you are alone, you spoke abut H.D.C.s telling what you thought was pretty big storys I have no doubt but that what he said was correct at least since we have been laying in Camp here at Stafford we have [fared] pretty well, but there has been times when that story would not jibe so well but I will bare him out in his statements he told me that he [walked] you part of the way home one night and then give you up to one Wheeler  to see the rest of the way that I should think was doing pretty well have two beaus in one night. I will send you five dollars more in this letter. will put in a small bit for each of the children they must all be good children and mind their Mother in whatever she tells them to do and Frankey you must put your mind on to your books this summer and see if you cant learn something for you are getting to be a big boy and unles you begin to learn soon you will grow up and be behind all of the others at school then you will be ashamed and be sorry that you did not try to learn when you was young, Georgia wishes to goe to the select school now if I was there than that she would learn enough more to pay the bills I should be perfectly willing that she should go you seamed to think that learning was not what she was after I dont know what els there would be at such a school for her to go for only to try and learn you was in favor of her going to the dancing school and I was opposed but she went now I am more in favor of her going to this, if she will go and behave herself and try all she can to learn I will give my consent for her to go but she must always go and come direct from school and not be pleading to stay away from home nights for her place is at home so here you have my idea on the subject if she thinks she can abide by what I have proposed in these few lines she can go otherways she must go to the district school no more this time my love to you all

From your Husband
